Handbook section 2 of 10

Section 2: Licensing requirements for PHVs

The rules for licensed vehicles, which every driver should know even if they do not own one. 23 practice questions, each with an explanation.

What section 2 covers

  • Vehicle licences last one year and need a fresh inspection before renewal.
  • Licence discs on the front and rear windscreens: never remove, damage or alter them, and what happens if they are lost or spoilt.
  • Hire or reward insurance, when it must be valid and who you must show it to.
  • Reporting collision damage within 72 hours if you own the vehicle, and acting on fault letters from TfL or the manufacturer.

A summary in our own words. Read section 2 of the handbook itself before your assessment.
